This resort offers 14 guest units in 12 cream-colored wooden buildings built into the mountainside. Views from balconies are of treetops, deep forested gullies below, other Blue Mountains rising higher than the resort's mountain (Strawberry Hill), and, 3,100 feet below and in the distance, Kingston and its harbor.
Hand-crafted mahogany reproductions of 19th-century Caribbean furniture include platform four-poster beds with white-netting canopies. All-white bedding includes Frette Italian linens and down comforters and pillows. (Both European-style square pillows and American-style rectangles are included.) Mattress warmers prevent dampness.
Air conditioning is unnecessary at this altitude, and louvered windows permit cool mountain air to circulate under high ceilings. Floors are polished wood. White paneling and 19th-century–style fretwork contribute to the colonial ambience. Televisions offer U.S./European cable channels. CD players include CDs. Fresh flowers and fruit plates greet arriving guests.
